Brooks in the Wall Street Journal titled “Handsome is as Handsome Gives.” In it, Brooks ponders the rewards of philanthropic giving with his own questions: Do those who give live longer? Are they healthier? Are they more attractive?

It’s mid-August, and the University of St. Thomas is abuzz with activity as we prepare to usher in the fall 2014 semester. As I walk the campus, the unrelenting Texas heat is overshadowed by the beauty of the landscape made lush and green by recent summer rains. I hope this semester’s students find our campus as wonderful and welcoming as I do. I try, too, to envision the changes that are coming to UST as a result of Faith in Our Future: The Campaign for the University of St. Thomas.

Amid the excitement of graduation and end-of-semester festivities last week, we received some news that gave us even more reason to celebrate. The largest gift in UST history was pledged by longtime friends Carol and Odis Peavy in support of Faith in Our Future: The Campaign for the University of St. Thomas.
