Drama Student Follows His Hometown Roots to UST
UST Drama Major, Darius Daniels '18, grew up in the small town of Liberty, Texas. From the age of 13, he spent his summers performing in the local Humphreys-Burson Theatre located in the town’s Geraldine D. Humphreys Cultural Center.
Darius chose the University of St. Thomas for its excellent academic programs and focus on faith and character. “St. Thomas had everything I wanted in a Liberal Arts university,” said Daniels. “Even the Drama department makes sure we receive a well-rounded education. Although I’m an actor, I am still required to study technical work, costume design, music and other aspects.”
Darius was able to attend UST because of scholarship opportunities provided to him. “I needed financial aid support in order to attend St. Thomas. After researching and applying, I was fortunate to receive a Drama Department Scholarship from the Humphreys Foundation, the same family that established and supports my local theatre in Liberty, Texas. It was meant to be!”
