David Harvey, Jr.
David Harvey, Jr. was appointed to the UST Board of Directors in 2007. He brings tremendous business acumen and leadership skills to his role as chair of Faith in Our Future
: The Campaign for the University of St. Thomas-Houston, the largest campaign in the University's history.
In 1977, after studying architecture at University of Notre Dame and graduating from the University of Colorado with a B.S. degree in architectural engineering, Harvey joined D. E. Harvey Builders, a company founded by his father. In 1986, he assumed the presidency and currently serves as the firm’s chairman of the board and CEO.
Harvey Builders is a Houston-based construction company with approximately 600 employees and offices in Austin and Washington, D.C. The firm has won numerous awards of excellence and has worked on many notable Houston landmarks including the Doubletree Post Oak, Williams Tower, Houston Pavilion, the House of Blues, the Woodlands Waterway Marriott and the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center T. Boone Pickens Academic Tower.
Harvey’s wife Mikki is a professor at Rice University, and they have three sons and two daughters. He serves on the boards of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, Houston Architectural Foundation (AIA), Cristo Rey Jesuit College Preparatory School, Rice Design Alliance and UST.
